Hi all! It's me, Miss Barb.

Sometimes I notice the different flags that are being flown from my neighbor's houses. People hang up flags for a lot of different reasons. During the next few weeks, you'll see a lot of flags, including Pride flags during Pride month and American flags during the 4th of July.

If you had your own flag, what would it look like? What would the design represent? Would it have stripes like both the Pride and American flags? Maybe there would be shapes on it, like hearts, stars, circles, mountains, rivers... Or maybe your flag would be something new, like a picture of you and your friends and your family.

If you come to Gate City Pride (June 20th) or Idaho Falls Pride (June 27th), you'll have the opportunity to make your OWN flag at our Craft Corner booth. But if you can't come to Pride, you can create this craft with the instructions below!

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Decide on the design you want to create, grab the markers, and create away!

I’m not to confident in hand drawing letters, but I wanted to have mine say "LOVE," so I penciled it out first. I traced the lines in black, then added color. No real color scheme in mind, just random color!

Step 2: I added a bit of whimsy with flowers, dots, and shapes to add more color! Just get creative!

You can see mine has all kinds of flowers (which are some of my favorite things, of course). Mostly, I wanted to show people that I love... well, love! That's the message I like to put out into the world, so that is what I put on my flag. You might write things on your flag, or you might have it be just symbols and colors.

Whatever your flag looks like or represents, I hope that you wave it with Liberty to go along with Reading Time's theme for this year's Pride. Speaking of which...
