Miss Barb here! Are you ready to have a fun Pride Month?

As an ally, I love to take part in LGBTQ+ Pride Month. For the past few years, I've been in charge of creating awesome crafts for the kids in Southeast Idaho to create when they come to our Pride festivals. It makes me feel good knowing that I've done my part to make Pride a fun time.

I came up with this craft and have been making these "straw beads" out of rainbow-colored paper straws for weeks, all in preparation for our festivals in a few weeks. If you come to Gate City Pride (June 14th) or Idaho Falls Pride (June 28th), visit our booth so we can help you make one. Otherwise, you can create this craft with the instructions below!

🧃 "Sip Up Some Pride" Bracelet 🏳️‍🌈

SUPPLY LIST

🌈 Paper straws

🌈 Pony beads

🌈 Chenille stem (pipe cleaner)

🌈 Scissors

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Use your scissors to cut the straw into 1-inch pieces.

Step 2: Slide a pony bead onto the chenille stem. Then slide on a straw piece. Continue alternating until you have enough to fit around your wrist. Be sure to leave a room on both ends of the stem.

Step 3: Wrap it around your wrist and tightly twist the ends closed. Trim off the excess stem if you’d like.

I love helping kids (and adults) make crafts they can enjoy throughout Pride, especially ones they can wear all month long. And hey, maybe you can wear it after Pride season is over, too! For me, being an ally isn't just for Pride month, it is all year long. It is more fun that way!
