August 2026 - Community Service Project

Hi friends! It's me, Miss Cali!

It's been a while since we've had a regular Craft Corner, but we have a lot of good excuses as to why!

In June, we took Craft Corner to Pride and let you all make a flag during the festival!

In July, we had Science Time and partook in an robot coding activity instead of a craft.

For August (this month), we are doing a project all in the name of service.

If you come to our August program, we will have a small craft to do in the form of a greeting card. However, in the theme of "It's Giving!," those cards are being attached to our service project!

That's right! Instead of a craft, we will be working together to create "Welcome Home" kits that will be distributed by Aid for Friends in Pocatello. We will have some supplies pre-gathered for your kiddos to help contribute to the project. But if you are feeling inspired to bring some of your own, here is a list of what goes into a "Welcome Home" kit.

Cleaning/Household Supplies:

Trash Can Liners

Cleaning Sponges

Multi-Purpose Cleaner (409, Lysol, etc.)

Sanitizing Wipes

Toilet Brush

Pine Sol

Paper Towels

Toilet Paper

Dish Soap

Place Setting for One (bowl, fork, knife, spoon) (must be in good condition)

Saucepan (must be in good condition)

Frying Pan (must be in good condition)

Wooden spoons (should be new)

Spatula/Pancake Turner (should be new)

Shower Curtain and Rings

Ziploc Bags

Laundry Detergent (with small, reusable containers to transport smaller amounts to laundromats)

Hygiene/Personal Care Supplies:

Toothbrushes

Toothpaste

Shampoo

Conditioner

Body Wash

Bath Towel

Hand Towel

Washcloth

Hand Soap

To tie the project into our books Stone Soup and Ordinary Mary's Extraordinary Deed, we will be doing five kits and each contributing just one item to each. We'll learn that if we each contribute just a bit, together we can make a huge impact!

Even if you can't contribute, please stop on by the program. Like I said, we will have enough supplies for everyone to participate in creating the kits and greeting cards!

Our program is Saturday, August 8th.

IDAHO FALLS:

We will be at The Heart Event Center, 751 S Capital Ave, starting at 10:30am.

POCATELLO:

We will be at Discovery Dance School, 310 E Clark St, starting at 1:30pm.

The space is ADA compliant. You may park in the parking lot either in front of or behind the studio.
